Entertaining!

When I was growing up I watched my Mom and Aunt Carol collect some of the most amazing antique china, flatware and serving pieces. Albeit, at the time I just noticed the pretty colors and interesting lines. You can't expect too much from an 8 year old! Over the years I have come to appreciate and admire the thought and detail that goes into their collections and dinning presentations. My Aunt Carol knows how to create a beautiful spread, and reminds me to pay attention to the quality of each item, and to look at it as an investment. My mom has a stunning collection of china, silver, and many other pieces. I feel like every item has a unique story and long family history.

This Sunday my Mom brought out my Grandmother's Haviland Limoges china for me to look at. (I found the Haviland history here: HAVILAND ) It is from the late 1800's and absolutely stunning! My mom said she had always admired the china growing up, but did not inherit it until recent years. She said she wanted to pass it on to me, to enjoy and use for Dely dinner parties to come!

There are a few things that are incomplete... not quite a full set of coffee cups & saucers... but for the most part it is a large set. And while I do love the Kate Spade china we registered for, it can't compare to the unique beauty and family history that the Haviland china holds.

In a bold move, I logged onto Macy's.com and delete, delete, deleted the Kate Spade dishes!

....still excited for the Kate Spade wine and champagne glasses though ;)
